How much How much does a copyright license or custom design illustration cost?

Dear my friend, the price depends on the specific demand. We usually consider the following points.

1、What are the deliverables that need to be delivered?

First of all, we need to know whether you need to license existing works or custom illustrations? As well as the number and scale of works and designs, usually based on the work of one artist, if different artists are involved, they should also be informed. At the same time, the style and complexity of these illustrations are also related to the price. Do you know the topic and direction you need? At this point, from the artist's work can be concentrated to see something that particularly catches your eye and is clearly useful for us to evaluate the price. You can send us something with a similar level of complexity to what you want, and that would be very helpful for us to understand your needs. From this information, we can figure out how much time and effort the artist gave or needed to complete the work, as well as the value.

2. How will the artist's works and results be used?

Once we know what the artist creates for you, we need to talk about how it will be used. Commissioning a custom illustration does not mean you own the work outright, the artist retains copyright. What you have is a certificate of permission that dictates how and where you can use them, even if it's a custom creation for you. If you want even the copyright to belong to you, that can be discussed. Therefore, we need to determine what these uses are. This includes telling us what media your AD will be used in (online, print, billboard, etc.), which countries and places in the world it will appear in, and how long it will be used. It's a simple equation, the more a piece is used, the more it costs. On the other hand, if you limit the scope of use, the cost will go down.

3、Is it possible if I need to use the work anytime and anywhere?

Yes, we regularly negotiate all media deals, permanently expanding worldwide. However, the artist still retains the copyright. If you need exclusivity or if you own the rights, it will be very expensive, but of course if you have that budget or the overall development of future use, it can be discussed.

4. Are there any other fees besides the initial authorization fee?

Sometimes a project may require the artist to travel or participate in an event, purchase specific materials, and have special requirements. Some projects may also require photographers, film crews, curators and design retouchers. In these cases, we will consider these costs as accurately as possible and include them in our quotation.

5. How long can the quotation be provided after the demand is provided, and how long is the price valid?

If you can provide us with the above information, we will be able to give you a preliminary offer within 2 days to a week. You know that there is a time difference between artists from different countries and China. If you have a holiday abroad or an artist is traveling, you may need to wait patiently, but we will tell you as soon as possible. Of course, the final fee depends on the final contract signed in full, but our initial quotation is usually very accurate. And then we can get to the exciting part.
