Nel Whatmore
Nel Wahtmore is a contemporary artist known for his expressionist and evocative floral depictions.
She began her career as a professional artist in 1986. She met her husband, writer Mark Morris, while at college. They live in North York and have two children, Polly, who studies acting costume at Edinburgh College of Art, and physicist David!
Nel was invited to a special reception for HRH the Prince of Wales at Clarence House, where she presented him with one of her original paintings as part of the Trust's 35th anniversary celebrations. Nel is a regular exhibitor at the Chelsea Flower Show and has won several awards for her stand. Her work can be seen in many forms around the world. Many private collectors were her biggest fans and became her friends.<br /><br />
She tried to constantly explore the medium and its ability to convey emotion. Nel has published six sold-out collections of poetry entitled "reasons" and designed a fabric collection for Westminster fibre's Freespirit brand in the us. Her work has been licensed worldwide, participating in almost every major Licensing event including Surtex in New York and Brand Licensing in Las Vegas. All her collections of patterns are inspired by her fine art paintings or natural forms. They are handmade, have a painterly feel, and always have a stunning color palette.
