Kathryn Beals
Kathryn Beals is a self-taught painter and former forester in British Columbia. With no formal art training, she has been selling her own art since she was thirteen. She lives on an island in British Columbia with her husband and three young children. Her landscape style comes from the beautiful landscape of northern Canada where she lives and is related to her previous work in forestry. She especially loves the outdoors, and she's a former cancer survivor, so she partners her art sales with nature nonprofits, and since 2017, she's raised more than $50,000 to protect nature by selling her products.
She attributes the color and clouds of her work to her feelings and the foreboding of migraines. These conditions shaped the way she saw the world and contributed to her development as an artist. Her main work uses propylene, resin, metal leaves and wood. In 2017 she fell in love with fluid painting, which looks like it's formed naturally; From cells to rocks to aerial photographs to galaxies. She also added resin and metal leaves to blend her abstract and landscape style.
